Celebrities and Local Residents Celebrate Blackjack Debut at Seminole Casino

On June 22nd, 2008, celebrities and South Florida residents trooped to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to celebrate the debut of the game of blackjack in Florida. The Seminole Hollywood Casino debut around seventy-one new casino card games, including fifty-five tables for the game of blackjack.

The rest of the gambling tables are divided among the games of mini-baccarat, pai gow, Let It Ride and Three Card Poker. Wagers up to $10,000 can be made by players in a high-limit room. The new card games like blackjack are considered to be bank games, which mean that players can wager against the casino.

Jim Allen, the Chief Executive Officer of Seminole Gaming commented that they enjoyed relative success with their Class Two and Class Three slot machines and poker games but now they can actually features Las Vegas style casino card games like blackjack, baccarat, Red Dog, Let It Ride Poker and others, which players can usually see and play when they go into a Las Vegas casino or Atlantic City casino.

The Seminole Tribe signed a gaming compact with Florida Governor Charlie Crist on November 17th, 2008, which allowed the tribe to push through with their plans to offer Class III slot machines and card games. When the gambling compact was approved by the Department of Interior on January 2008, the tribe paid Florida $50 million and it will give the state another $50 million contribution in its initial year.

Some of the celebrities that trooped to the casino to celebrate the debut of the brand new card games were Carmen Electra and cast members from the Sopranos like Frank Vincent and Lorraine Bracco. Around eight hundred new employees have been hired by the tribe to operate the card game tables.
