On July 18th, 2008, the Seminole Indian Tribe and Governor Charlie Crist want the Florida Supreme Court to reconsider their decision that invalidated the gambling compact between the state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe. The Seminole Tribe and Governor Crist filed a motion for reconsideration on Thursday.
Earlier this month, the justices decided seven to zero against the gambling compact Crist signed on November 2007 with the Seminole Tribe which in turn allow the tribe to offer their customers' games like Class III slot machines like baccarat and blackjack at their seven casino establishments in Florida. The Florida state Supreme Court sided with legislative leader like House Speaker Marco Rubio and Senate leader Ken Pruitt who have challenged the gaming compact because they feel that they have been left out of the whole process and wants to have a bigger say on the gambling compact.
They also said that Governor Crist cannot approve such an agreement without their nod of approval. Rehearings are rarely given especially if the decision of the court is unanimous.
