Game Show Network was allegedly called a format theft by US Company Ultimate Blackjack Tour. Ultimate Blackjack Tour is the creator of the TV Gambling format under the same name that the CBS will air beginning September 16, 2006.
Ultimate Blackjack Tour has sued the cable channel GSN for format theft in Los Angeles Supreme Court last Tuesday, August 15. The lawsuit according to Ultimate Blackjack Tour includes a breach of implied contract, breach of confidence, unfair competition and unjust enrichment in connection with GSN's show, World Series of Blackjack.
GSN has declined to work with Ultimate Blackjack Tour. The Sony support cable channel "misappropriated" its concepts for making blackjack more dramatic and unified them into World Series of Blackjack.
Ultimate Blackjack demanded that GSN be restrain from airing the show which they had allegedly said was copied from them. The UBT also demand for monetary damages, for how much is not disclosed yet.
In connection with GSN, GSN has extended its cash poker series. The television series of High Stakes Poker which is now in its third season. The latest season was shot at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. The location for the third series was not yet confirmed by the producer of the show.
